Now in our second generation Robin’s Nest Started in Bethesda, MD and grew to North Potomac over 33 years ago. Robin’s Daughter, Renee, along with her husband Ben and three daughter are proud to continue this family business. Robin's Nest has enjoyed excellent staff retention over history. We are simply thrilled to introduce ourselves and welcome you to our family!
Our staff is carefully vetted and well-qualified to care for children. Moreover, Robin's Nest goes beyond the State of Maryland's requirements and participates in the voluntary Maryland Child Care Credential program; many of us are credentialed child care providers.
We also rated in the Maryland Excels program and are in the process of becoming accredited. Take a peak and some of our current staff and make an appointment to meet us all.

Robin Rice Ackad- Founder
Robin founded Robin's Nest Child Care in 1983 to meet the child care needs of her own four children—including Renee. Over the next thirty years, she tirelessly grew the business into a thriving family-oriented center. Robin is director-qualified for infants/toddlers, preschool, and school-age children. She is a Level 4 Maryland Child Care Credentialed Provider. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Northeastern University.

Renee Shuman- Owner/Director
Watch us grow into our best is not just a slogan. Renee spent her childhood in Robin's Nest and now the second generation owner/operator. She is director-qualified for infants/toddlers, preschool, and school-age children. She is a Level 2 Maryland Child Care Credentialed Provider. Renee holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the mother of Aveline, Colette and Haley, all of whom attend Robin's Nest and along with her Husband Ben live on the property.

Don Ackad
Don retired from a career in the United States Secret Service where he served as the Safety and Health Manager. He also served as a volunteer fireman for twenty-five years. Don is a licensed Maryland contractor and holds a Master's degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Illinois State University. He is a Level 3 Maryland Child Care Credentialed Provider and is director-qualified for infants/toddlers, preschool, and school-age children. He is the grandfather of Aveline and Colette, both of whom attend Robin's Nest.
Hela G. - Assistant Director/ Lead Teacher
Hela is an Assistant Director who began in 2015. She is from Tunisia, speaks French, Arabic and some Italian. The mother of two young adults she loves spending time with the little ones again.

Jessica W. - Lead Teacher
Jessica started at Robin's Nest in 2012. She is teacher-qualified for infants/toddlers and preschool children. Jessica focused her pre-collegiate studies on early childhood education and has an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She is fluent in Cantonese.
Briana Walker- Lead Teacher
Taneesha Singh- Lead Teacher
A passionate educator Ms. Taneesha is currently working with the toddlers. She started at Robin’s Nest in 2021 as an aide and has earned her lead teacher certificate for all ages. Amazing at multitasking she has brought a focus and positive energy that the kids all flock to.

Ameesha P. - Lead Teacher
Second mom to so many including Renee’s daughter Haley, Ameesha came to Robin’s Nest in 2015 and is a lead teacher for all ages but is particularly attached to the infants. She is an extension of our family and her son and daughter also work at Robin’s Nest during their time off school.
